B 12 Shot: The Morning Miracle

Waking up to the feeling of a 2X4 slapped to the back of the head, while having your stomach flipped upside down isn’t exactly the way anyone wants to start out a morning. Some may try to pop a Tylenol or two and suffer through the afternoon with a plate of leftover Milano’s from the night before- but like many delicious wonders ArtStreet Cafe seems to conjure up, there is a sweet little miracle that can be added to the array of blendie delights! ArtStreet Cafe’s new B 12 shot seems to be all the rage, and to some- a lifesaver. The sweet tangy zest of vitamins, minerals, and ENERGY serve as the college student’s best friend, mom, and study buddy after a long night. Not only does it clear your mind- it puts your body in its rightful place, while giving you the willpower to actually start that paper you put off till the day before. Paired with a classic heavyweight breakfast bagel, the B 12 smoothie is surely the ticket to feeling like a champion again! It’s clearly not a LeBron situation- the decision is OBVIOUS…Make your way on over to ArtStreet Cafe for a B 12 energy shot!

John Donne^
At the annual ArtBeat art festival we held our panini creation contest! We had four contestants create their ideal panini and a panel of esteemed judges taste them and rank them. Our judges included: Joe Guy (CEO of Flyer Enterprises), Jim Saywell (President of the Student Body, SGA), CJ Babcock (Social Chair of ENT) and Jonathon Reinhart (drummer of the band G-lot). The winning panini was Sammy Kieszkowski's with her creation containing: salami, chicken, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, walnuts, craisins, sig sauce and basil!

Sammy Kieszkowski is a junior English major with a geology minor. She lives on Stonemill in a Marianist Student Community and loves having a house in the Ghetto - especially the porch. Her hometown is Naperville, Illinois and she considers herself to be a very family-oriented person. She's a big fan of paninis in general and, after exploring what ArtStreet has to offer her sandwich-loving taste buds, she knows what she likes...Hence the creation of this panini, with many seemingly random (but totally delicious) elements. She's named it the Donne, after her favorite poet John Donne, because she's passionate like that. Read "Meditation XVII" or "The Good Morrow" while enjoying her panini to get the full experience.

Come to the Cafe from now until the end of November to try her creation!!!

“Jersey Saturdays”: The Phenomenon

It’s Saturday morning. Guys everywhere roll out of bed, tripping over last night’s Vinny’s box, while digging around their colossal mountain of clothes in a quest for that one article of clothing that officially starts the day: the jersey. Jersey Saturdays seem to be an obvious phenomenon which has graced the lives of all pigskin-loving fans alike since the days of Abroham Lincoln. Sure, everyone likes to rep their team on game day, but the obsession of sporting silks on a regular basis seems to pose as a way of marking hometown territories among college students. Jersey Saturdays turn the UD ghetto into some sort of “Gangs of New York”-esque battleground as all the Chicago, Columbus, Cleveland, and St. Louis fans leak into the streets wearing their designated colors in preparation for kickoff. “I wear jerseys to represent my ‘squad’ and to show my fan-hood,” sports fanatic, Lou Zambelli, commented. “It’s more than reppin’ a team you like...it’s a shout out to your hometown.” Jersey Saturdays raise the bar of competition to the next level and bring a sense of camaraderie among us fellow Flyers. They create Fantasy Football friendships and reunite old high school bromances. So whether you’re a Die-hard Cavs fan or a born and raised Buckeye, sport your team’s jersey at ArtStreet Cafe so we can show our mad love for all jersey-wearers everywhere.

Look out for the ASC Marketing team on weekends in the UD Ghetto and on campus! Almost every weekend we will be passing out “Jersey Coupons” very similar to the once pictured above in which anyone walking into the Café that day before close, coupon in hand and Jersey-clad will enjoy a sweet Café discount! So keep your eyes peeled!

What's your secret?

REACH Out with Active Minds and Art Street are sponsoring an ongoing community art project where YOU are free to share a personal dream, aspiration, fear, confession, regret, or anything you want to reveal anonymously. It is inspired from Frank Warren's PostSecret.

ArtStreet Cafe's newest panini creation is the Odierna! This wonderful featured panini is named after the one and only, Guido Odierna. Odierna was born in Capri (11-13-1913) and was a quite a talented painter. He is well-known for his seascape oil-paintings in which he incorporated the harsh, yet beautiful seaside with its jagged cliffs and powerful ocean water. Capri heavily influenced Odierna's work and life.

Come to ASC and experience Capri Cafe-style!

Trivia Night at ASC!!

Compete in ASC's Trivia Night's for a FREE DAYTONA TRIP. The rules are as follows...

ArtStreet Café will be hosting three trivia nights throughout the months of February and March. There will be 2 rounds each night consisting of 20 questions each. The winning team of each round will receive their choice of a free Pita Pizza or a free Lettuce Wrap. There will be free samples distributed throughout the night, as well as bonus question giveaways. Each correct answer will award your team one point. The team with the most points at the end of all three trivia nights will be rewarded with a FREE TRIP TO DAYTONA. Therefore, the more trivia nights your group attends the better chance you have at the free trip. Your team can join the point-based competition for a free trip at any point, but it is advised to attend all three nights and all six rounds if possible. Teams can consist of 3-5 students. Each round your team wishes to participate in must be played by at least 3 members of your team for your points to be considered valid. If we see anyone texting (or the like) during a round, we will collect your phone/iPod until the end of the round. We apologize for being so harsh, but it is necessary for chances to remain fair across the board. Unfortunately, since we only have one trip to give away, the winning team must decide which of their members is most worthy…we will leave this task up to you. The Trivia Nights will run from 9-11pm. If you plan on participating, be there no later than 9pm because the first round will begin promptly at 9. The second will most likely begin around 10.

The tentative dates for the Trivia Nights are as follows
Feb 24th
March 10th
March 24th* (Daytona Trip will be given out this night)
